WALL, founded in 2014, operates from a contemporary gallery space on the second floor of the Old Port Captain’s Building at the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town.
Operating primarily in the secondary market, WALL presents exhibitions of exceptional images by South African artists who have succeeded in elaborating aesthetic languages that are innovative in approach to traditional and contemporary subject matter while remaining conscious of historical precedent.

The jazzy subject matter in the diptych ‘And A One and A Two and A Three’ by Sam Nhlengethwa serve as the inspiration for the title of the exhibition which showcases diverse works by a selection of South Africa’s celebrated exponents of Modernist painting from the early 1960s to the near present.
